June 2026 DBTC Ride Schedule 


Monday, June 1st:

9:00 AM FUN PLUS-H2-25-NW Meet Merri Bruntz (303-517-9781) at Anderson Park (44th & Field) for a ride west on the Clear Creek Trail to the Peak to Plains Trail, which we will take to the current construction point at the CCR Trailhead.  After a break at the trailhead, we will return via the same route.  Bring a sack lunch for a picnic afterward.


Tuesday, June 2nd: 

NEW RIDE

9:00 am NE Fun/Plus H1 29mi NE Rotella Park to Ken Mitchell Park   Meet Fred Tarbell (630-888-5290) at Rotella Park, 1824 Coronado Pkwy S. Denver.  Bike East on Niver Creek bikeway to South Platte trail and turn left, North. Following the Platte River on the right, for 16 miles to Ken Mitchell Park and Open space.  Break and bathroom(possibly enroute) at Park. After the break we will return by the same route to Rotella Park around lunch time.  Entire route is flat and open views of Thornton ponds and river.   Welcome to bring snack/lunch items for socializing after ride if desired.                                                                                                     

10:00 AM FUN/MTB P2-T2 13 + optional SW WATERTON CANYON.  Meet Karen Kelley (303) 260-9029   Enjoy a ride up Waterton Canyon to the dam, optional continue up to Lenny's Bench. Meet at the Denver Audubon Kingery Nature Center parking lot 11280 Waterton Rd.  Bring a chair and food for lunch afterwards. 


Wednesday, June 3rd:

9:30 AM FUN PLUS-H3-31-SW Meet Simone Caruthers (720-636-2884) at Wheat Ridge Cyclery on Ken Caryl (12402 W Ken Caryl Ave, Littleton 80127, east of the Ken Caryl exit off of C470).  We will ride up Deer Creek Canyon Rd into the neighborhoods and into Chatfield State Park, taking the road around the lake to Sterling Ranch.  After our break at the coffee shop (bring $$), we will return back to Wadsworth.  We will then continue through neighborhoods to the start.

9:30AM MTB/Gravel P1T1  Waterton Canyon Meet in the Audubon Center parking lot at 11280 Waterton Canyon, Littleton, CO 80127 This is about ΒΌ mile before the main parking lot for Waterton Canyon. This route takes us along a gravel road that follows the South Platte River. We will take the gravel road, ending at the Bighorn Picnic Area beneath the Strontia Springs Dam. There are many opportunities to spot wildlife on the surrounding cliffs, especially the big horn sheep herd. Dogs are not allowed in this area to protect the bighorn sheep herds. Extra-credit to ride the Colorado Trail up to Lenny’s Bench for those who want to do that additional mile and climb.  If the trail is muddy of course, NO. Meet Steve Farley in the Audubon Center parking lot.  Bring a chair and snacks for post-ride get together. Check Meetup for any weather cancellation.


Thursday, June 4th:

8:45 AM GO 9:00 FUN PLUS-H2 (850”gain)-25 to 30 miles NEW LEADER, NEW STARTING PLACEWelcomeThomas Hefner (503-701-1815) at The Highline House ,11485 Roxborough Park RD, Littleton, (https://share.google/PSUou6zXAWkBOhdwT ). Beat the summer visitors to Chatfield Lake. We’ll ride into the park then exit and travel up (and down) Deer Creek Canyon. If additional miles are wanted, a trip to Sterling Ranch will be in order.


Friday, June 5th:

10:00 AM FUN PLUS-H2-25 Frisco (Elevation Gain = 1107’) Meet Jeff Krinsky (720-373-9107) for the FREE ICE CREAM TOUR OF BRECKENRIDGE. We will ride the multi-use trail through Frisco and on to beautiful Breckenridge where we will explore the town and stop for a break at the Ice Cream Store of choice complements of DBTC. We will then return to Frisco using alternate trails. We will meet at the North Tenmile Creek Parking Lot at the southeast corner of I-70 & Main Street. Drive westbound from Denver on I-70 to Exit 201 and look for DBTC members in the parking lot.

NEW RIDE

10:00 AM H2 26 miles T1 Gravel (ATB) or mountain bike (some washboards.) We will meet at the Buffalo Creek Parking area, Pine Valley Road, Highway 126.  18268 S Buffalo Creek Rd, Pine, CO 80470This is now a paid parking lot ~$7, payable by app.  There is WiFi at the parking lot to accommodate this.  Also restrooms. This ride will be entirely on dirt, gravel roads.  NO SINGLE TRACK OR TECHNICAL SKILL REQUIRED. We will ride a lollipop loop, enjoying the unique scenery of Buffalo Creek.   Bring plenty of water and snacks.  Water available for purchase at trail head. The drive to trailhead via HWY 285 from C470 and 285 is about 45 minutes. Janet Martel Jmartel98@gmail.com (303-929-5950)


Saturday, June 6th:

8:00 AM FUN-H1-20 NE GRAVEL RIDE ROCKY MOUNTAIN ARSENAL Meet Cyndy Klepinger (303.725.1565) at the parking lot for the Visitor Center at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal, 6550 Gateway Road. We will ride the gravel trails through the Arsenal, trails are fairly smooth, but do have loose gravel. Ride limited to 10 riders, to reserve a spot, text Cyndy at 303.725.1565. All rides are weather permitting, Check Meetup posting if you are not sure if a ride is a go or not. Bring a sack lunch to socialize after the ride.


Sunday, June 7th:

9:00 AM FUN PLUS-H1-27 NE HIDDEN TRAILS Meet Cyndy Klepinger (303.725.1565) at Cake Crumbs, 2216 Kearney. The route starts with Cherry Creek Trail, then the Highline Canal to Tollgate to Sand Creek, Westerly Creek and finally Central Park trails. Pace will be 12 to 14 mph. There are a few miles of city street riding in bike lanes and on a designated bike lane. Ride limited to 10 riders, to reserve a spot, text Cyndy at 303.725.1565. We’ll have the opportunity to get a snack at Cake Crumbs after the ride. All rides are weather permitting, Check Meetup posting if you are not sure if a ride is a go or not.

9:00 AM Intermediate H3-NW-31-+1933’ elevation gain Crown Hill Park to Red Rocks and Golden. WELCOME BACK DONALD SCHMERTZ! Meet Donald (720-785-0616) at Crown Hill Park at 26th and Garland St. Please gather at the restroom to meet your ride guide. The pace will be Intermediate with regrouping to keep everyone together. Monday, June 8th:

9:00 AM FUN PLUS-H3-21-NW Meet Merri Bruntz (303-517-9781) at Prospect Park (44th & Robb) for a ride west on the Clear Creek Trail to Easley Rd, which we will take to 60th Ave (becomes 58th). We will ride west to Hwy 93, and then ride south on Hwy 93 for approximately a quarter mile to the entrance of White Ranch. After a break at the east trailhead, we will continue to ride through White Ranch to Tucker Gulch. Then we will ride down Tucker Gulch and down the Clear Creek Trail to the start. Bring a sack lunch for a picnic afterward.


Tuesday, June 9th:

8:30 AM FUN PLUS--H3-10-W-+1370’ elev gain. “Progressive Lookout Challenge #1: Lookout Mountain for Beginners 101!” (Mountain-riding Month with Marilyn) Meet 08:30. REGISTER BY TEXT 303-905-8510 to leader by June 8, 5PM. Come try Lookout and get more elevation training in! Meet Marilyn Choske at the Lookout Mountain Road “pillars” parking lot--> from Hwy 6, go .3 mile on Lookout Mtn Road to park on the left. Restrooms available. If you pass the two big pillars, you’ve gone too far. We’ll ride at our own paces and stop at the Windy Saddle Lot 3.1 miles from the cars; regroup. Continue to 4.7 miles and pull off at the yellow posts on the right; regroup. Ride up to the viewing deck. Return down the mountain to our cars! Ride will not go if rainy or forecast is for morning rain; call the leader if in doubt.


Wednesday, June 10th:

9:30 AM FUN-H2 (1,069 Gain)-24 miles SW NEW TRAIL, NEW ROUTE Third time is the charm! Meet Patty Gaspar (303-618-5069) at Nixon’s Coffee Shop at Hudson Gardens. The parking lot for trail use is at the north end of Hudson Gardens behind the car wash on Maplewood Street. There is a short trail down to the coffee shop. We’ll head up through Grant Ranch and over to Weaver Creek then C-470 and finally down the new Dutch Creek Trail for a speedy downhill back to the Nixon’s. Bring your lunch or buy it at Nixon’s. Thursday, June 11th:

9:00 AM FUN PLUS-H2-23-NW (Elevation Gain = 998) Meet Jeff Krinsky (720-373-9107) for THE HIDDEN GEMS OF ARVADA. We have all experienced the traditional Arvada classic trails of Ralston Creek, Clear Creek, and Van Bibber. Check out this new route instead that explores Lake Arbor, the Pomona Lakes, the Arvada Fire Fighter’s Park, the backside of baseball, and other forgotten areas and is guaranteed to be an adventure! Meet at the SE corner of HWY 36 and 104th at the back side of the new HotPot, formally Black Bear Diner, formerly Quaker State and Lube Restaurant (10392 Reed St., Westminster, CO) by a hidden entrance to a hidden trail where the adventure will begin (and end).


Friday, June 12th:

8:00 AM FUN PLUS-H3-16-W-+1897’ elev gain. Progressive Lookout Challenge #2: Lookout Mountain for Beginners 102! We add a bit more distance & elevation from the “101” ride! REGISTER BY TEXT 303-905-8510 to leader by June 11, 5PM. Meet Marilyn Choske at meet place directions at end of description. Once we get to Lookout Mountain Road, ride at your pace to the Windy Saddle lot at 5.2 miles; regroup. Continue to 6.8 miles and pull off at the yellow posts on the right; regroup. Ride up to the viewing deck. Enjoy the downhill ride and we’ll stop at a nearby coffee place (bring $) to celebrate your Lookout accomplishment! Return to the cars. Ride will not go if rainy or forecast is for morning rain; call the leader if in doubt. MEET PLACE directions: Park in the westernmost area of the Clear Creek Parking Lot--Free Public Parking in Golden. Enter from the 10th & Archer Streets area (on Archer Street). Use your Maps app or contact leader beforehand. Look for my red Kia Sportage w/bike rack.

9:00 AM FUN PLUS-H3-36-SE 1600’ Elevation Meet Susan Larson (720-207-7300) at Arapahoe Road Trailhead for a ride to and through Aurora Reservoir. This ride has plenty of hills and will be a mix of the Cherry Creek Trail, the High Plains Trail, the Piney Creek Trail, the Aurora Reservoir Trail, residential roads and the bridge over Parker Road. We’ll make planned breaks on the route at Red-tailed Hawk Park, Aurora Reservoir beach, and Piney Creek Hollow Park. Bring a sack lunch for a picnic afterward. The ride is limited to 10 riders. Saturday, June 13th:

9:00 AM FUN-H2-22-NW (Elevation Gain = 1060 feet) - THE REALLY RADICAL RAT RACE RODENT RIDE Meet Jeff Krinsky (720-373-9107) for this ride that takes us around the trails of Rock Creek, Interlocken and Broomfield highlighted by the new bike overpass between Interlocken and Broomfield leading to never before seen trails!!! Come find out how this ride got it’s name. Meet at the SE corner of the Safeway parking lot at the Rock Creek Village Shopping Center in Superior. Rock Creek Village is centrally located in Superior at the NW corner of Coalton and Rock Creek Parkway (Address is 1601 Coalton Road Superior, CO. 80027)
