Winter Riding Guidelines

Wednesday “Roses” Group

These hardy riders continue all winter. Wednesday’s “Roses” rides are 15-20 miles, SW, at 11 a.m. “Roses” will meet when the temperature is 50 degrees or above, the weather is sunny and calm, and trails are clear for “Show-n-Go” rides from Reynolds Landing (one mile north of Carson Nature Center, at the signal, turn west onto Brewery Lane, and go all the way past the Brewery to the end). Riders attending will determine route. Bring a snack and money for lunch at a favorite restaurant after the ride. Leaders use the DBTC Message Board to let you know if there is a ride each week. In case the Wednesday weather forecast is bad for riding and another day is better, a notice will be sent on the Yahoo Group list with information about the change of day for the ride.

JOIN DBTC MEMBERS FOR WEEKDAY SKIING!

BY LIN HARK

Love to ski or would love to learn? Hate the crowds, the long lift lines, the I-70 traffic, and the inflated ticket prices? Loveland is the place for you! This great classic ski area is the closest to Denver at 57 miles from downtown. DBTC has an active group of skiers who go to Loveland almost every week during the ski season. Get on the CO Bicyclist email list to get weekly reminders of upcoming ski days. Lin Hark and Sue Frakes hope to ski Loveland almost every Tuesday during March 2017. Watch for more information about these trips on the Meetup group and the CO Bicyclist Yahoo Group email list. If conditions aren’t good on these dates, watch for updates on those platforms, as well.

Meet Lin Hark and Sue Frakes at 8:00 a.m. inside the El Rancho McDonald’s to car pool to Loveland Ski Area. (I-70 exit #252, cross over the highway, turn left at the light, and left into the Walmart parking lot. Park at the west end of the Walmart lot just outside the McDonald’s lot). Please RSVP to Lin (303-578-9369) or Sue (303 910-8206 before 9 p.m. or after 5:30 a.m.) if you will be coming and where you will meet the group. We will plan to break for lunch at 11:30 a.m. in the upper level just three steps above the main cafeteria if you would like to meet us there.

  • Thursday, March 9: Loveland Ski Hooky Day (Watch for information on how to get your $25 coupon!)

  • Tuesday, March 14: Ski Loveland

  • Tuesday, March 21: Ski Loveland

Tuesday, March 28: Ski Loveland

Please NOTE: Weekday skiing with your DBTC friends is offered as a gathering of friends and is NOT a sanctioned activity of Denver Bicycle Touring Club. Participating in skiing with DBTC friends means you will accept full responsibility for your own safety.

MARCH RIDE SCHEDULE And Show-n-Go Rides

Unless there is a leader named, winter rides will be Show-n-Go. The riders who show up on these days will decide among themselves the route, the mileage, the pace and the after-ride restaurant. The starting locations will be places where many rides have begun in the past and thus several riders will have an idea of possible routes to be taken. You can go to www.dbtc.org and hit the “start locations” button for more detailed directions to most of the starting points or possibly maps of rides from that location.

Links to ride start locations are on the website: Ride Start Locations
