Finally, spring has sprung and we hope that by the time you read this, the trees are starting to leaf out and the daffodils are in bloom. April weather is still unsettled so we start our regular schedule, but rides can be canceled due to weather.

Wednesday, April 2nd
"Roses" H2-16 or H1-20 SW 10 AM Meet Melba Bouquet
720/493-0564, at Carson Nature Center, (west of Santa Fe and Mineral, north on Platte River Rd. - opposite
Aspen Grove). Route will depend on whether Highline Canal and Lee Gulch trails are clear.
If so we will do the usual loop on the trails (cross/mountain bikes suggested.) If not we
will ride north on the Platte River Trail. Bring a snack, and money for a restaurant meal following
the ride.
FUN/INT-H2-20-NW-10:00AM Steven Stevens (720)497-1100 Le Tour Du Tables D’Or (A tour of the table mountains of Gold(en) departing from the Golden Oldy Cyclery (17224 West 17th Place in Golden). www.goldenoldy.org The ride will start promptly at 10:00a.m. (come 15 minutes ahead to be sure your tires have air and use facilities), and circle both the South and North Table Mountains.

FUN- H1- 20- NW- 10:AM Meet Dennis Walker (303-650-9657) at Twin Lakes
Park. The ride is an out and back from Twin Lakes to
Prospect Park. Twin Lakes is about a
block west of Broadway on south side of 70th. From south, exit I-25 at 58th Ave, go west to
Broadway, north to 70th St.
INT-H2/3-20-SW-9:00 AM Meet Don Morris (303-697-5248) at the SW corner of the Wal-Mart Parking lot at Bowles and C-470. We will ride thru the Ken Caryl and South Valley areas to Deer Creek Canyon, then up to Grizzly drive and loop back to the start. Lunch is optional.
Sunday, April 6th
FUN-H2-20-NW-10:00AM Meet Bruce Kohl (303-458-7322) at Hilario Restaurant
(4835 W 38th Ave., just east of Sheridan). Bruce will take you on a ride
through North West Denver. Lunch afterwards at Hilario.
FUN-H2-20-SE-10:00 AM Join Cindy Ferry (303-274-9454) at South High School (Louisiana and S. Franklin) parking lot for a ride along the Cherry Creek bike path to REI and return on the same route. Come along! Lunch is optional.
Touring (FUN Pace, INT Distance)-H2-50-SE 8:00 AM. Meet Don & Marilyn Swett (303) 791-5863 at Fairmount Cemetery (NW parking lot) located at the SE corner of Quebec and Alameda. This will be a training ride for the Texas Hill Country Tour but is open to all club members and guests. We will ride out to Watkins, south to Aurora Reservoir, then west to Cherry Creek Reservoir and return to Fairmount via Highline Canal. The ride will be at our touring pace of 10-12 miles per hour. 2/3rds of the ride will be on street or roads with light to medium traffic and the balance on paved paths. don_swett@earthlink.net

at CrownHill Park, 26th Ave at Garland Street (3 blocks east of Kipling), for a ride
on the streets of Jefferson County with an option to climb Lookout Mountain. This is the
Spring-Training-Rides Mid-Term Ride following the Spring Training rides from March. The Spring
Training Rides will continue through April. Now that we have completed some base training, we may
want to do a real climb. Those who could not make the DBTC Spring Road Ride training rides
in March are welcome to ride.

FUN/INT-H2-15-NW 10:00 AM Steven Stevens ( 720)497-1100 The Historic and Pre Historic Tour of Golden .. by Bike. Ride will start from the Golden Oldy Cyclery (17224 West 17th Place In Golden www.goldenoldy.org) There will be stops at the site of Dinosaur fossils, 5 to 7000 yr Old Indian Pueblo, Berthoeds house, Loveland's house, Horace Greeley's crossing, The 1863 to 1867 Capitol building of the Territory of Colorado...and many other historic sites. The ride will start promptly at 10:00 so please be sure to come 15 minutes ahead to be sure your tires have air and use facilities.
MTB P2-3, T2 6:00 PM The usual evening mountain bike ride series begins, weather permitting. Meet at the main Green Mountain (Hayden) Trailhead off west Alameda Ave, at the hill crest. Look for the DBTC crew. Afterwards, by popular acclaim, Talk of the Thai restaurant. Jeff 303-969-9241

FUN- H1- 20- NW- 10:00 AM Meet Jake Jacobi (303.475.0374) at
Twin Lakes Park. The ride is an out and back from Twin Lakes to Prospect
Park. Twin Lakes is about a block west of Broadway on south side of
70th. From south, exit I-25 at 58th Ave, go west to Broadway, north to 70th
St. This is Jake’s first time as a ride leader.
FUN-H1-25/30-S-10:00 AM Join Stuart Black (303-433-9041) at the Carson Nature Center/Mineral Park-n-Ride. We'll go for a large, flat loop along the southern reaches of the Highline and Platte River trails. This is a dirt ride but easily doable on a wider tired road bike. If it's muddy, we'll do something along the C-470 trail. Lunch is at one of the corporate food outlets afterwards.
ROAD-H4-36-SW-10am Meet Chris Mattivi (720-277-5992) at Crown Hill Park, 26th Ave at Garland Street (3 blocks east of Kipling), for a 36-mile loop ride up Lookout Mountain and down Route 40. We will regroup along the way and at the Lookout Mountain visitors’ center. We will stop for coffee in Golden on the way back. It can be cool on Lookout Mountain, so bring appropriate riding clothes
MTB P2-3, T2 9:30 AM Jeff Baysinger (303-969-9241) at C-470 and Morrison Road, across from Conoco. Ride up to Green Mtn and over, then ride by the dinosaur tracks along the hogback, followed by the lower Red Rocks trail option. Park your wheels for lunch at the Morrison deli on the loop end.

FUN H2-20-NW- 10:00AM Meet Merri Bruntz (303-517-9781) at Crown
Hill (26th & Garrison) for a neighborhood ride through Wheat Ridge, west on the Clear Creek
Trail to Golden, and back via 32nd and 26th avenues.
FUN-H2-28-SE- 9:30 AM SOUTH HIGH or 10:00 AM JAVA CREEK Meet Bob Shedd (303-733-2815) at South High School (Louisiana and S/ Franklin) parking lot promptly at 9:30 and proceed to Java Creek Coffee Shop (287 Columbine in Cherry Creek North) to collect a few more riders at 9:50. Proceed on easy streets through East Denver to Stapleton, ride the Westerly Creek Trail and check out the New Central Park. Return route by way of City Park and Capitol Hill. Optional lunch afterwards.
Touring (FUN Pace, INT Distance)-H2-57-SE 8:00 AM. Meet Don & Marilyn Swett at the Tamarac Square Old Chicago at Tamarac & Hampden. This is a training ride for the Texas Hill Country Tour with organizational meeting afterwards. Everyone is invited for the ride. This is also the last chance to sign up for the Tour. Your money and out of town ride waiver will be collected after the ride. This ride will head south looping through the Pradera subdivision near Parker and return via Cherry Creek State Park. The ride will be at our touring pace of 10-12 mph. 2/3rds of the ride will be on streets and roads. Traffic should be light to moderate. don_swett@earthlink.net
Wednesday, April 16th
"Roses" H1-20-SE-8:30 AM. Meet Judy Deist, 303/841-4792, in the park on the
west side of S Parker Rd. and Indian Pipe. (Pine Dr. is on the E side of Parker, Indian
Pipe on the W.) We will ride to Franktown, or less for 20 miles total. Some packed dirt and
gravel, OK for road bikes; cross or mountain bikes better. (similar to Highline Canal surface.)
Bring a snack, and money for a restaurant lunch after the ride.
FUN/INT-H2-30-SW-10:00 AM Join Darrell and Jean Deering at the parking lot near the interchange of C-470 and Morrison Rd across from the Conoco convenience store. We will then head south on C470 into Chatfield State Park and follow the Platte River trail to the Bear Creek trail and return to the start. Lunch can be decided either at Aspen Grove midway into the ride or at a restaurant in Morrison after the ride.

Saturday, April 19th
FUN–H2–21–NW–9:30AM Meet Steve Ingraham (303-756-7847)
at the Berkeley Park parking lot, Sheridan Blvd and 46the Ave NE corner, for a ride on quiet
streets and bike paths the group will head downtown, take the Platte River Trail north, and
return to Berkeley Park via the Clear Creek Trail. Lunch afterwards if the groups so desires. This is
an early season ride, so watch the weather report and dress appropriately.
FUN-H1-25-SE-10:00 AM This ride will maintain a 10 mph speed. Meet Susan Gregory (303-477-9233 at Fairmont Cemetery (Alameda & Quebec) using the Quebec St. entrance by the Cemetery office. PLEASE PARK AT THE BACK OF THIS LOT. We will ride the Highline Canal (pea gravel) and Cherry Creek trails to REI for Coffee. We’ll return on the same route. Lunch optional after.
INT-H3-27-NW-10:00AM Meet Curt Pellegrin (303-522-3592) at the Tanglewood Park (Directions: I-70 to Exit 263 (Denver West). Right to Denver West Parkway and then right on Denver West Parkway to Denver West Circle.) for a ride over the Arvada Dam via Foothills Rd., Easley Rd., 64th Ave, and return via 72nd, Quaker, 82th Ave., Alkire, 72nd, Easley Rd and 32nd.
Sunday, April 20th
FUN-H2-30-SE-9:30 AM TWENTY Parks Tour SE. Meet Gaar Potter
(303-691-0938) at Eisenhower Park. (Colorado Blvd. at Dartmouth) We'll
tour SE Denver and ride by as many parks as possible. I'm inviting the YMCA,
so behave !
FUN-H2-20-NW-10:00AM Meet Cindy Ferry (303-274-9454) at Sloan Lake Park
(25th and Sheridan) for a ride on 23rd Ave. to the Cherry Creek Trail and
Colorado Blvd. Return will be via Exposition and Washington Park. After a
spin around Washington Park, ride to the Cherry Creek trail back to REI and
Sloan Lake.
INT-H2-40-SW 11:00 AM- Meet Ellen Chilikas (303.750.5099 home, 720.670.0296 cell) in Sedalia for an out and back ride to Larkspur - go south on Santa Fe to Sedalia, turn west and park at the second set of railroad tracks. This will be a SINGLES ride - a ride to promote singles from the DBTC to meet and get to know one another. Partnered people can join us, but you will be asked to identify yourself as such. There will a lunch/snack stop midway in Larkspur. NOTE - the ride will only go if the weather is nice (not raining or snowing, not really cold, not really windy) - call leader by 9:30am if it is questionable.
Road(15+mph)-H3-30-NW-10:00am Meet Curt Pellegrin (303-522-3592) at
the picnic tables in back of Prospect Park (44th and Robb). Curt will lead
the group north to the Ralston Valley HS, west on 80th to Highway 93. We
will head into Golden with a stop at the Higher Ground, then east on 44th to
Easley Road. From Easley, we will turn east onto 54th, and return back to
Prospect Park via 52nd and Tabor Street.
MTB P2-3, T2 9:30 AM Waterton Canyon to Lenny’s bench. 16 miles out and back. Hook up with R. Fred “dusty” Berry, 720-840-8596, keeping an eye out for the bighorn sheep. Revive afterwards with Wild Oats healthy meal delights.

House, (east side of S Estes, a little south of Yale) for a ride along Bear Creek.

Saturday, April 26th

FUN-H2-30-SW-10:00 AM Meet Kris and Mike Holmes (303-988-4522) at Fox Hollow Golf Course (on Morrison Rd. near Kipling) on the east side of parking lot. We'll ride along Bear Creek, cut down along C-470, loop around Chatfield and return on Platte River bike path, hooking up to Bear Creek. Lunch is at Golf Clubhouse to follow.
INT-H2-28-SW-10:30AM Meet Dale Trone (303-981-9161) and Kathi Baird (303-981-9158) at the OLD location for Lakewood Performance Bicycle Shop (Jewell and Kipling - do not park near buildings) The route will go west on Jewell, north on the C-470 trail and Rooney Rd to Golden. We will then ride to Crown Hill and return via Garrison.
ROAD-H4-25/37-SW-9:00am Meet Jeff Baysinger (303-969-9241) at the dirt parking lot on the NW corner at Morrison Rd and C-470 (across from Conoco station). This will be a two part ride: First, 25 mile loop, Lookout Mountain via Golden from C-470 and Morrison Road. Second, 12 mile optional loop ride (after part 1) to Belleview and C-470 trail.
Sunday, April 27th
FUN-H2-20-NW-10:00AM Meet Merri Bruntz (303-571-9781) at Prospect
Park (44th & Robb) for a ride north through Arvada neighborhoods to the Ralston Creek
Trail. From there we will ride west over the Arvada Reservoir to Easley Rd and the Clear
Creek Trail back to the park. There will be an option to bypass the reservoir for those who are
not quite ready for the climb in April.
ROAD(15mph)-H3-50-S-10:00am Meet Gaar Potter (303-691-0938) at Castle Rock Safeway parking lot (West end, South of Big O Tires). This is 2 blocks East of I-25 exit 281 (Plum Creek Parkway). We will take Tomah Road and Perry Park Road to Palmer Lake. Good training ride. Very pretty. Return will be by the same route, downhill with a tailwind
MTB P2-3, T2-3 10:00 AM Jeff Baysinger (303-969-9241) at the Rooney Road lot, west side of Green Mtn. Three Park, ride Green Mtn, next loop over the hogback via the Zorro Trail, followed by Matthew Winters/ Red Rocks option.

ROAD/INT-H2/3-30-SW-10AM Meet Darrell Deering
(303-697-6126) at Deer Creek Canyon Park parking lot (from C470 and Wadsworth, go south on Wadsworth1/2mi to
Deer Creek Canyon Road, then west 4mi to Grizzly Dr, then left 1/4mi to the parking
lot). We'll ride Through South Valley to the C470 trail, Bear Cr. Park, through Red Rocks
Park, then return. We'll be riding some hills out and back. Lunch options in the Ken Caryl
Wednesday, April 30th

parking lot of South High School, corner of Louisiana & S Franklin, near SE corner of
Washington Park for a ride through neighborhoods, Platte River, REI, and parks. Bring a
snack, and money for a restaurant lunch after the ride.
FUN/INT-H2-30-SW-10:30 AM Meet Dale Trone (303-981-9161) and Kathi Baird(303-981-9158) at Lakewood's Stone house (near Estes and Yale). We go West on the Bear Creek trail, thru Bear Lake PARK, south on C470 into Chatfield State Park and follow the Platte River trail to the Bear Creek trail and return to the start. Lunch will likely be at Aspen Grove
